Give to Get..
forGIVE TO forGET..
I do, for the most part, believe you Reap what you Sow. Sometimes though, everyone is dealt a bad hand. Many times for no good reason. The storms in life can be real faith killers in my experience. Often leading people to think all the things they had believed in were not so or worse God does not care or exist. I was starting to think Karma didn’t exist.
I was becoming very bitter. A serious case of the” Why Me’s” and then deeper in my depression…thinking I must have done this or that to deserve what I have gotten-UGH LIES !!! I didn’t deserve it and I won’t take this negativity any further. No one deserves to be hurt , No one deserves cancer ,no one desrves losing a loved one, or any disaster for that matter. These are truly just wicked parts of life that must be pushed through or you will be at risk of total defeat, despair, depression…..death. Once you begin to believe the worse, it is all down hill from there! Time to see that without rain you can not appreciate the rainbow and pave that damn yellow brick road back to happiness.
I have decided to go back to what I have always believed in but gotten away from-The Golden Rule. Treat others as you wish to be treated. Give to Get. Forgive to Forget (that’s been the hardest for me). I came upon the epiphany the other day as I explained to my daughter why I gave the person on the freeway some dollars. She asked didn’t I think they would use it for alcohol. Not sure where she heard that from, I explained to her that no matter what the person uses the money for it’s not up to me to care. I was only to give of my heart. How they use what’s been given to them will be between them and their maker in the end. But if I give of my heart without judgment well that’s one point for me when I meet God himself, not to mention everything you give you get back in some way or another. And, who cares if they buy alcohol anyways? They obvioulsy have it pretty rough. I mean, I dont have it that bad and a cool beer here and there is always welcome, LOL. It’s Awesome when these lessons with your kids come up; I surprise myself sometimes at how it happens and ultimately how it teaches me!
Being generous and sharing your goodness is how you become happier. So each day I am going to do my best to remember the little things to making the world a better place in some small way. Maybe leave a coupon behind on an item I will not use at the store for the next person, tell someone they look pretty to make their day, Honk at the construction worker on the street (guys need a whistle every now and then too), leave some change behind in the vending machine, Iron my husbands jeans, Call my Mom (sounds easy but this can be a toughie), Talk in glowing terms about someone to a third person, rather than gossiping or “bitching”, make a habit of only saying positive things about others, SMILE !!! Here are just a FEW sayings about giving…..
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.7:7-8
If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.” Tenzin Gyatso, The 14th Dalai Lama quotes (Dalai Lama, b.1935)
“If you have much, give of your wealth; If you have little, give of your heart” Arab Proverb
“The value of a man resides in what he gives and not in what he is capable of receiving.” Albert Einstein
“For it is in giving that we receive.” St Francis of Assisi
True generosity of spirit begets further generosity. By truly giving of yourself, you generate more abundance in your own sphere.
"We make a living by what we get;we make a life by what we give."-Winston Churchill
"Trying to get without first giving is as fruitless as trying to reap without having sown."-Napoleon Hill
"Before you speak, listen. Before you write, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you invest, investigate. Before you criticize, wait. Before you pray, forgive. Before you quit, try. Before you retire, save. Before you die, give."-- William A.
